The 3s started out the first half on what was a dull grey dark day, the energy levels and play mirroring the weather, hardly a voice could be heard. The game was pretty even and end to end dotted with short corners both ends, Oxford had a succession of 4 short corners but Marlow defended them all brilliantly to keep the slate clean. Finally, Marlow won a short corner in the closing minutes of the first half. A great injection and left slip to Emma P who popped it in the goal saw the 3s first goal.

After the energy hit of a goal and a motivation talk at half time from Nikki, the 3s came out a completely different team - fired up and hungry for the win! Some beautiful skilful hockey and the obvious fitness advantage over Oxford meant that the 3s had most of the play in the second half. They were awarded a short corner midway though the second half, an injection that flew past the top of the D to be picked up by Tiger and quick pass to Jenny proved to be a perfect dummy to the Oxford defence. A strong pass by Jenny through the defence to Tilly on the far post lead to the perfect second goal.

The rest of the game involved some beautiful runs & passing up the pitch beating numerous Oxford players....the main comment from the sidelines being “Is Flossie playing RB or LF?” (Amazing runs Flossie, well done!!!) and finished with endless attacks on goal. Unfortunately the 3s were not rewarded with any further goals but the 3 points for the win has put the 3s top of the Div 1 league with a game in hand and only 4 remaining matches.....this is getting exciting!!!

POM is awarded to Jenny for her determination, intensity and great skill during the game with special mention to Flossie and Bev who were joint second
