Marlow came into the game confidently after 3 wins from 3 in pre-season. They dominated possession in the opening battles, with some great teamwork and passing setting up numerous penalty corners. Maddy Peacock scored Marlow's first after the Witney keeper saved the first strike and rebounded to Maddy to slot past the post player. Some great play from Ella Tidy and Ella Brown set up the second goal and Helen Cooke converted another penalty corner. Marlow keeper Alys Ramm kept her composure and made some great saves to deny Witney their first goal. This took Marlow into half-time leading 3-0.
In the second half, Marlow continued to dominate. Supreme individual skill from Man of the Match Ella Brown got her her second goal with a great strike, after a run from the half way line. Ella Tidy also scored two and Katie Bailey rounded off the scoreline to 7-0. A special mention should go to Freya Hulse on her Marlow debut. Her finesse and tenaciousness really added to the team dynamic.
All in all, coach Chris Kilminster was happy with the team performance and Marlow 2s are looking forward to their next fixture...Banbury away...
