Marlow show some class and prove they have the quality to climb the table after Xmas.

Twas 13 nights before Christmas, and all through the night
Marlow hockey players were sleeping, getting ready for a fight
The players were preparing and sleeping with care
Expect for Chris Land who was out on the tiles somewhere??...

Morning arrived and frost covered ground
Would we be able to play today everyone screamed so loud
With a depleted squad and some first team league debuts
We travelled to Ashford (Middlesex) to bring back good news

We started with fire, punch and zigga
And on 13minutes, went 1-0 up with a Jack Turner trigger
We continued to control the game and kept possession with glee
But they scored an equaliser, which was annoying to see

But did we choke, stumble or rot
As in previous weeks we had done that a lot
But two quick team goals to follow from Alex Land and Jack
And 3 -1 up at half time meant we had the best attack

The second half started, as the first half did end
With Chris Land this time executing and beginning to make a mends..
With the team playing so well from Boyd, Rymer and Sood
It started to feel like Christmas already, with all in the festive mood

But Imre Gerrits was pushed to the floor,
With his opposite number laugher, he got up and thought such a bore
He retrieved the ball and shot off in attack
And followed it up with neat little finish, laughing at the player who had put him on his back

Ashford (Middlesex) were dazzled and blinded by our play
Even young Sam North was having a good day
With the midfield battle being dominated by Luffy, Gary and Elliot joining in
A slight lack of focus aloud them to score which was seen as a sin

But this was to be all they had in the locker
And Oscar Ancliffe had enough time to make their goal keeper have a shocker
Ed Dillion was cool as a cucumber throughout
With Alex Dalton leading the front line with tempo and clout

The game started to draw to a close, and with minutes to go
They entered the D and Nick Winter was pro
Pushing a playing twice his size to the turf
He received a yellow card 14 years after his birth

So they failed to capitalised and hit the post
And with Boyds head making a great save, of course he began to boast
Chappers watching cheering and jumping up and down
Marlow had 3 points and would take them back to their home town

So a cold, wintery day turned into a warm roaring fire
Sam North received MOM for all his desire
And the DOD award would only go to one person
It twas for Nick Winter for having to much assertion
