Best performance yet?

Marlow's first team went into this crucial game against West Hampstead with their coach's words ringing in their ears, "I'll punch someone if we lose this!!".

With these words in mind Marlow started positively taking the game to the opposition with their high press.

After captain Land limped off in the second minute, Marlow dominated possession, passing the ball with fluidity and style. Although chances were created, the final touch continued to elude them as halve time neared.

Shortly before the break Ashton took a nasty blow to the mouth, thereby ensuring a rapid visit to the dentist, and no doubt a decent payday from the tooth fairy.

Going into the second half at 0-0, Marlow remained positive and Land, having decided he was fit enough to fill space in the oppositions circle, got onto the end of a pin point pass from Luff to put the back hand shot into the corner of the West Hampstead goal. 1-0 Marlow.

With 15mins to go Oscar Ancliff bagged a great deflection, after a ball was zipped in from outside the circle. At 2-0 up the game was dead and buried but the umpire never saw the touch and awarded a 16.

It stayed at 1-0 And the game became increasingly scrappy as the second half wore on, with both sides picking up a yellow card, Ancliff for Marlow. The defence continued to hold strong, with improved concentration compared to previous weeks. However going into the last minute a crash ball into the circle from West Hampstead led to a deflected equaliser, and a final score of 1-1.

It was certainly a disappointing result for Marlow, but a strong performance that should be built on next week going into a must win game against Barnes.
