On a freezing afternoon, last match of the day at Pound Lane, Marlow ladies 6's welcomed Wallingford, apprehensive after their first loss of the season again Oxford, The magnificent 6;s had something to prove.
Bolstered by our "New addition" Jo Rees- and sideline coaching from Chris Sewell the 6's started with full steam, some beautiful passes in midfield by Hanah Dutfield controlled the game by the scruff of the neck and soon had their first chance in front of Wallingford goal, Wallingford dealt with it well and cleared a good few shots by Emma Jaq & Jo. Wallingford broke into the Marlow side but was dealt magnificently by the 6's backs fighting for every ball!
Again Marlow made a break and the first goal of the day was scored by Aimee Cuthbert, Boom 1-0 this settling the Marlow side, pumped by this goal wave after wave and a few misses by the Marlow forward line we knew we had Wallingford rattled! Up stepped Jo Rees, supported amazingly on the sideline she attacked the goal, saved by the keeper she chased after it and scored a scorcher of a goal while her back was to the goal!! Boom!! bottom corner- and she's back!! 2-0 the scoreline!, Wallingford broke and scored a goal at he other end against the run of play Ouch - 2-1 !!Not putting there heads down Marlow fought back and pounded the Wallingford defence.
Second half seen Marlow doing the same, wave after wave of attack, apart for a purple patch for 10 minutes by Wallingford Marlow were in control, Beautiful runs by Aimee saw her cross a fab ball to Jo Rees who set up Emma Kelleway for a beautifully constructed goal - Boom - 3-1
The crowd were ecstatic! Staying to cheer us all on in the freezing weather, last quarter seen Jo Rees subbed to a tumultuous round of applause.
The ladies were not finished yet and wanted more, lovely defence work from Marlow saw the ball dribbled to Aimee who crossed for Emma and - yes you guessed it BOOM!! 4-1 the final whistle blew!!
Marlow ladies 6 won the hard way, guts and glory, each and every player giving 110% boosted by the sideline cheers - thank you for this.
P.O.M was a joint win by Jo "The legend"Rees and Aimee Cuthbert.
