MARLOW U10s WIN at WALLINGFORD WILDCATS TOURNAMENT

Marlow U10 team played superbly to win the Wallingford tournament on Sunday 2nd February.

The three group games were played 6-a-side on a quarter pitch. Following a strong win in their first group game (3-0) they then lost their next two group games, even though the balance of play was equal throughout (0-2,1-2).

Moving into the knockout phase (now 7-a-side on a half pitch) and playing CJ at sweeper, saw a much stronger defensive performance to complement the attacking flair that had been shown previously. The first knockout game was won 1-0 without ever looking in any trouble and this saw us entering the quarter finals.

The first quarter final was won after a tense penalty shoot out with Abbie Harrison making a string of fine saves to win it for us. The semi-final and subsequent final the followed the same pattern with tense evenly matched games both leading to penalties where again Abbie was outstanding in narrowing angles and saving most of the penalties.

Well done the penalty takers Leo, Nick, CJ, Sean and Kit who held their nerves at various times to put away the goals that counted.

Overall a fantastic performance by the whole team - Abbie Harrison, Lotte Enderby, Christopher Jackson, Jacob Gunn, Jacob Fry, Kit Selman, Leo Pennat, Nicholas Vye, Sean Tierney, Sebastian Peperell - well done all!
