Year 2's in the goals at Sonning!

Gareth Baber16 Nov 2015 - 14:49

First tournament goals and wins for our Y2's

It must be said I was slightly nervous about the year 2's at Sonning at the TVL on Sunday. Both coaches had taken the day off for a day trip to Guernsey together and as I approached the pitch about 10 minutes after the scheduled start I wasn't sure what to expect.

I need not have been concerned - a wave of enthusiasm from the parents on the side line watching the Marlow team told me everything had started to plan. A huge thanks to all those who were there and got everything organised, in particular Suzy Insley who was umpiring, coaching, calling on and off substitutes and anything else needing to be done!!

I was lucky enough to see the Marlow vs Marlow fixture, a great display of how the kids are enjoying their hockey and have come such a long way in a short time. It was an even match up until a last minute winner gave one team the upper hand 2-1. A Marlow win all the same!!

Turn out was fantastic - in fact probably enough to have put in another team so thanks to all for handling substitutes and getting everyone involved.

The next TVL tournament is in Slough on Sunday 6th December so please register on Pitchero as soon as possible and if we need another team entered i'm more than happy to do so!!
