Marlow u16 gals faced Oxford Hawks in our third match of the season. With a new man to man press, we took a while to get into the game.
5 minutes in, Hawks went up 1-0 after a penalty stroke, shortly after we were even again thanks to Maddy Peacock.
After great run from Jess MB we won a short corner, Amelia slapped it to left post where Sophie tapped it in.
With a player down due to an injury, Oxford Hawks had a quick break and managed to score.
Soon after that, Cadinouche scored a fab goal however the umpire saw an imaginary stick tackle and the goal was disallowed. This dodgy decision fired us up, we won another short. Amelia fired it in to the bottom right hand corner or the goal and we were ahead again!
After half time Hawks scored another to make it 3-3. We kept are heads up and were determined to get more goals. Brownie drove the baseline and crossed the ball to Barclay who won a short. Lane injected it to Ella at the top of the D where she took a strike and scored! Unfortunately we got a bit excited by this goal and Oxford Hawks scored a minute later.
With 10 minutes to go we got another short. The first shot was saved by the keeper, Ella slapped the rebound towards the goal and Sophie slotted the ball in!
We knew that we had to keep concentrating for the last part of the game. Hawks continued to put pressure on us however they couldn't get past our solid defence, Josie Nash and Alex Lane. The whistle blew and the final score was 5-4 to us!
