Playing with 11 outfield players including Jess Rollett as kicking back, Marlow were rarely under threat in the first half against Oxford Bs. Passing the ball well amongst the team and excellent tracking back by Marlow meant that Oxford were always under pressure. Sophie Willis and Miki Renner went close with shots early in the game, but some great development play by Ella Brown and Sarah Pearce eventually led to the first goal as Emily Howes popped up on the left post to slot the ball home.
Confidence grew in the Marlow side inspiring Holly Broyhill-Fogg and Kate Sanders to work well together, and for Kate to score Marlow's second. Great defensive work from Millie Jackson, Hannah Peperell, Jess Rollett and Toni North ensured that Oxford never had a real chance to score.
After the break Marlow still proved too strong with Hannah Peperell now in the midfield running the game and she was unlucky not to score as she saw her effort soar over the crossbar. After a period of sustained pressure Kate Sanders was able to put away her second and Marlow's third. The team relaxed and made a number of positional changes to keep everyone warm. Some confusion in allowed Oxford to eventually put pressure on the Marlow defence. The pressure paid off as Oxford scored one and then two goals in quick succession.
That was enough to remind the Marlow players that the game was not yet won and the ball then remained in the Oxford defending half until the final whistle blew.
