Marlow U16s have had a tough start to the season with early season losses to Reading, Oxford and Southgate, but with today's game against Maidenhead all their training and team work activiteis paid off. An early goal came after Marlow had had most of the early possession, with injector Alex Lane pouncing on a re-bound from a Hannah Gilmour penalty corner strike. A lapse in concentration saw a wayward backpass give Maidenhead a chance against the run of play which they duly dispatched. With many good opportunities and surging runs from Anya Swales, Grace Harding and Jess Minshull-Beech, Marlow were unlicky not to add to their tally before half-time.
Some re-organisation at the break saw Ella Brown come to RD and display some superb skills in defence and counter-attack, and Hannah Gilmour's move to CM terrorised the Maidenhead defenders. Two further goals cemented Marlow's win with first Amy Dring netting at the left post from a Jess MB cross, and a carbon-copy second, saw Hannah Gilmour's cross met by Ella TIdy.
A win in the Cup competition puts Marlow back into contention so all to play for on 9th Nov.
