A strong Maidenhead side gave Marlow U14 Girls a real test in the latest EH Cup fixtures with Marlow just holding out for a 2-1 victory

The two sides were well matched and the early exchanges saw both sides have scoring chances. Marlow appeared to be getting the upper hand but Madienhead broke through and called for some good saves from marlow's keeper Mila Welch. Their pressure told though as at least two Maidenhead forwards broke the Marlow defensive line to slot the ball past Mila.

Undeterred, Marlow continued to press forward with Amelia Barclay posing a threat and Jess Minshull-Beech in CM breaking down the Maidenhead attacks and distributing the ball well. Their pressure brought no reward however and the half ended with Maidenhead in the lead.

Changes to the Marlow line-up saw Alex Lane join Jess MB and Holly Broyhill-Fogg in midfield and this gave Marlow real control, releasing Hannah Gilmour on the right wing. Her early cross was met by a well-placed Anya Swales at CF to guide the ball past the Maidenhead keeper for an equaliser. Marlow continued to press forward and Jess MB's mazey run forward was finished by Hannah Gilmour's strike to give Marlow the lead.

Maidenhead were not finished though and took the game to Marlow, pressing the Marlow D from both sides. Mila's great keeping coupled with stout defending from Jess Harrison, Josie Nash, Cleo Pryor and Hannah Peperall meant that Marlow's defence held firm. A late burst through from Amelia Barclay relieved the pressure from Marlow's lines but the visitors were pleased to hold onto their 2-1 victory.
