With new players coming in, Marlow took a little time to settle in their first game of the season and Reading were quick to take advantage, scoring within the first 3 mins. Marlow were gradually finding their feet when the Reading midfield pounced on an unfortunate Marlow mistake to score their second.
The home side were growing in confidence though and pressure began to build on the Reading goal with Anya Swales causing Reading defenders particular difficulties. A Hannah Gilmour cross also went begging. Reading still had opportunities to press for further goals, but excellent keeping from Marlow's Alys Ramm ensured no increase in the goal tally in the first half for the visitors.
As the second half started Marlow began to find their range and saw an excellent team effort led by centre half Jess Minshull-Beech giving Marlow greater possession. But with attack on their minds gaps appeared in the Marlow backline allowing a breakwaway goal from Reading.
Both sides gave good displays of psssing and scoring opportunities arose at both ends, with Reading able to capitalise on one for their 4th goal. Never giving up though, Marlow continued to press forward and an exciting last few mintues saw the Marlow forwards unable to net from a number of superb attacking moves.
