Marlow travelled to a Hawks side strengthened with a few extra university players . With nothing at stake for either side in the league Marlow decided to field a juniors side to introduce them to mens hockey for the first time .With only 2 seniors and 7 of the side 15 or under it was always going to be tough ask to meald into a winning performance
Marlow started well and early on James Hirst and Cameron Beazley Clarke combined in a counterattacking move to score Marlow's only goal. Hawks soon levelled the game . The first half highlight was for Max Ellis who pulled off a wonderfull head height save onto the post to keep Marlow in the game. Strong debut performances from Sam Whitfield, Tom Jackson , Charlie Thrush who worked hard to keep marlow competive in the first half that finished 1-2 to Hawks
As the pressure came on inthe second half Marlow buckled a bit and tiredness took its toll as Marlow let in a few late goals from Hawks
It was an enjoyable and competitive match that gave Marlow's new generation of players thier first outing in mens hockey and they managed really well against a predominatly senior team . Well done juniors !
Marlow 4 ths have a produced another solid season and will finish either 4 or 5 th in the league and close to thier record points haul of 2012-3 season
