Marlow 2s picked up what will surely be the first of many victories on Saturday. Right from the push back they moved the ball around with pace, dragging the opposition players around, creating space for the penetrative runs from a forward line looking full of promise.

15 minutes in, and the first goal came from sweeping move down the left. Having involved much of the team, and a string of fine one touch passes, Josh Morgans ghosted into the D unmarked and deftly poked the ball home past a wrong-footed Oxford keeper.

Moving into the second half and Marlow continued to control possession, seemingly toying with the opposition; but it wasn't until Nick Winter blasted home an unstopped drag flick from a well won short corner that the game was finally safe.

Oxford did pull a goal bacl, and nearly forced an equaliser, but Marlow hung on for a fantastic first victory of the season, which I'm sure the packed house down at Pound Lane found enthralling.
