When he left SHC in search of pastures new Staines thought Ben Horan had gone to persue his hobby of wake skating but little did they know he had signed for Marlow!
Agent Ben Horan posed as a professional wake skater in Georgia. He won Rockstar's Winch Jam in April this year, solidifying a spot in the top wake skaters of the world club.............or so Staines thought?
In reality he gave such an extensive scouting report on Staines that it was simply a formality for his new club.
Marlow used the fixture as preparation for the opening league fixture with Bracknell next week and it was a great work out, although Staines never really looked like scoring.
Oscar Ancliffe opened the scoring for Marlow half way through the first half, after a bit of a scrap in front of goal and Sam Cole (pitchero virgin) tapped in a rebound from a PC in the last 10 mins.
Man of the match, Tim Ming was a class above in the back four and will go back to the 1's next week, but filled in well for the absent Ed Dillon.
The vibe is good and when everyone turns up on time we'll be in danger of winning another league title. Harry Ratcliffe needs to go shopping and everyone needs to book off enough time for showers, fines and a social with the oppo next week.
Extra teas have been ordered next week for Bracknell's sleeper agent Sean Hardingham, who returns to pound lane for the first time in 5 years.
See you next Tuesday!
