Women's results
Marlow women's 1st team travelled to Southampton for their first league game of the season. and deserve to be in the spotlight with an emphatic win. They started strongly with an early attacking chance for Vic Allen who narrowly missed the goal. Despite an early green card, Marlow continued to press the Southampton goal and were rewarded when Martha Goodridge opened the scoring in the 13th minute. Helen Windsor doubled Marlow’s lead in the 27th minute with a goal from open play. The Marlow defence had to be aware of Southampton’s counter-attack and we’re up to the challenge with some great composure from new additions to the team Maddy Hill, Ellie Lane and Evie White.
Marlow continued to dominate in the second half. Captain Beth Halbard finished superbly just two minutes off the start of the second half. Summer signing Lauren Hilditch increased Marlow’s lead to 4 after some tireless running in attack. Vic Allen finally earned her place on the scoresheet in the 52nd minute and scored again 9 minutes later after continued pressure on the Southampton defence. Goodridge, who opened the scoring, scored the final goal in the dying seconds of the game to leave the score 7-0 to Marlow.

Men's results
The 1st team met old adversaries Reading 2, bolstered by a number of first-team players at Pound Lane. Marlow were without their new Ghanaian international Benjamin Kwofie who had fallen ill in the week, but had every confidence with several new players including those returning from university. Marlow started strongly and George Evans following his four goals last week put away their first penalty corner. Following another corner with Reading's defence out of position, Josh Morgans on the far post put Marlow 2 ahead. Reading's strong team rallied with two well-taken goals making it 2 all at half time.
In the 48th minute, Reading went ahead with a fine goal from the top of the D and began to dominate possession. They scored two more goals to put the result beyond doubt. George Evans, deservedly man of the match, notched another goal from a penalty corner giving hope of a late comeback but that was not to be, Final score Marlow 3 Reading 5.
The 2nd team, having gained promotion, met feisty opponents Amersham & Chalfont 1 earlier at Pound Lane with a number of new players Marlow were full of confidence. However, the team took time to settle and Amersham took the chances that came their way and were 2 up at the interval. Before they knew it Marlow were 4-0 down but that provided the kickstart they needed and created a number of chances going into the final 30 minutes. Phil Cowell scored Marlow's first with a penalty stroke fired into the corner of the net. Marlow were then on top and won a penalty corner which Phil Cowell was able to despatch confidently and notched his third goal with another penalty stroke. Marlpw contained to pree with near misses by Dan Field and Toby Hall with the visiting goalkeeper making the save of the match to keep the score Marlow 3, Amersham 4.
