Marlow Hockey Club Report 19th October

Women's results

Marlow women’s 1s travelled to Cheltenham and following their win last week, were feeling positive. Cheltenham started well and dominated possession with Marlow Keeper Alys Ramm having to make an incredible save in the first two minutes. Cheltenham were the first to score in the dying minutes of the first quarter with a shot from close range. Cheltenham doubled their lead seconds after the whistle blew to start the second quarter. This motivated Marlow to attack with more ferocity and were awarded a penalty stroke following a defensive foul. Martha Goodridge confidently slotted the ball past the Cheltenham keeper to make the score 2-1. Luisa Northing was unlucky not to equalise with her shot narrowly missing the far post. Rachel Clarke showed composure in attack, finding herself alone with the keeper after a great ball through by her fellow forward Lauren Hilditch. Clarke slotted the ball past the keeper to level the scores. Both sides kept searching for the winner with defender Emily Thatcher making a goal-line save to keep the final score 2-2 earning Marlow a vital point in their debut National League season.
