U14 Girls win final EH cup game!!

The Marlow side started well with the midfield of Luisa, JP, Mia and Miranda making some lovely passes through the Richmond defence, but struggled to put the final killer touch on the ball to score. After a penalty corner, the girls thought they had broken the deadlock from Colette's strike, but the goal was not allowed as the ball had not been received outside the D. Richmond continued to soak up the pressure once the Marlow side were making chances but to be denied time and time again by a very resilient keeper. With 10 minutes to go in the first half Sarah Pearce finally broke the deadlock, much to the relief of the coaching team! The second half saw Marlow start strongly but the Richmond keeper kept out all that was targeted at her. There were some skilful runs through the middle by JP and some lovely attacking down the right hand side from Helen, Molly and Lana to keep piling on the pressure. Midway through the second half, Sarah confidently doubled Marlow's lead. Richmond played with 2 high players and on a couple of occasions managed to get the ball though for the attackers to be met by Marlow's keeper Adele who was determined to keep a clean sheet. With under 10 minutes to go Ellie Yeomans took the ball in from the left and passed a couple of defenders, after committing the keeper she then unselfishly slipped the ball to Sarah for an easy third. Having now found her scoring boots in this game Sarah added a 4th in the last minute of the game.

A great performance by this talented side who have won 4 out of 4 in their EH cup league so now wait to find out who they will meet in the Regionals in April.

In the meantime, back to the U14 Girls Premier League....
