U14 girls secure a further win in the EH cup

At the meet time, with only 9 girls in the changing room, the Marlow coaching team were wondering what formation would be best. Luckily all other players turned up so a traditional formation was agreed! Reading came out all guns blazing and were 2 goals up within 10 minutes. After a few positional changes the Marlow side settled down and Sarah Pearce opened the Marlow account, followed swiftly by another from Sarah which was a one on one with the keeper and there was only ever to be one outcome. The play continued end to end with Reading having lengthy spells of play and the Marlow defence holding strong, especially Colette and Molly. Following one of the Marlow attacks, a short corner was awarded and expertly converted by a strike from Colette.

The second half started with attacks for both sides but Reading once again started the scoring and then using the momentum from this scored again to take the lead at 4-3. Ellie Yeomans showed she is a talent in defence as well as attack by playing left half back and containing and frustrating the Reading forwards again and again. JP continued to control the middle of the pitch and kept driving forward and offering chances to the Marlow forwards and Sarah converted one of these chances to bring the game back level. Both midfield sides of Luisa and Mia kept driving forwards and making passes across the Reading goal but the Marlow forwards just couldn't get their sticks in contact. With 2 minutes to go, JP took a quick free hit straight into the circle and Sarah was there again to convert and take the lead once more for Marlow.

Reading managed once further attack but the Marlow defence were not to be beaten and cleared the ball up the pitch for the midfield to stay strong and keep the ball in Marlow possession. The final whistle went and the victorious girls were elated at this hard fought win.
