Putting 6 goals past local rivals Wycombe showed strength in depth for the Girls U14 side last Sunday.

With a reduced squad due to half-term holidays, Marlow girls still managed to take control of an open game against Wycombe. Good passing, sharp movements and great execution allowed Anya Swales to open the scoring, and Hannah Gilmour soon followed this up with a sweet shot from a penalty corner.

Marlow's defence were rarely troubled in the first half, and this allowed their forwards to take opportunities with Ella Brown netting from a generous pass from Maddie Peacock. Anya Swales added a second to her tally just before half-time, to give Marlow a 4-0 lead at the interval.

Wycombe though were not going to give up and started the second half brightly, putting the Marlow defence under more pressure. The effort paid off with a goal 5 minutes into the half. Marlow then took advantage of the space left behind with Anya turing creator for Amy Dring to nick one inside the post to restore Marlow's 4 goal cushion.

Again Wyoombe pressed forward and Marlow's defence lost concentration to allow Wycombe a free shot leading to a second goal. With only a few minutes remaining, Marlow won a final short corner and Hannah Gilmour's strike found its mark to make the final score 6-2.

The U14 girls have one more match remaining in their confirmed fixtures - an away tie against Oxford next week in the EH Cup. A win there would mean a place in the regional rounds so there is still all to play for!
