Women's results

Marlow 1s hosted Trojans 2s at Pound Lane in a top of the league vs bottom of the league match. Rachel Clarke opened the scoring in the second minute with a deflection from a penalty corner, tipping the ball neatly past the Trojans keeper. Just two minutes later, Martha Goodridge fired the ball into the back of the net from open play. After a short hailstorm, the blue skies reappeared and Lauren Hilditch scored her first of the day with some superb pace and skill. Marlow dominated possession and played some beautiful free-flowing hockey which Trojans could do little about. Hilditch scored Marlow’s fourth goal of the game in the 18th minute and Marlow’s youngest player, Evie White, bagged her first goal of the season in the closing seconds of the first half with a deflection at a penalty corner.

The Trojans goalkeeper, who has previously played top tier hockey, had an absolutely amazing half. She made some incredible double saves to keep the score line down. Marlow continued to pressure the ball and Beth Halbard extended Marlow’s lead in the 47th minute. Marlow won a penalty stroke as the ball hit the Trojans defender on the line. The team elected Maddy Peacock to take it as she had not scored yet this season. Maddy kept her composure against a brilliant goalkeeper to leave the final score at 7-0. Marlow travel to Salisbury for their final league game in two weeks time.

The seconds kept their relegation survival hopes alive with resounding 7-0 win over Banbury 1. Marlow got off to a fast start when Tanya Lumley deflected in a cross from the right in the opening minutes. Helena Sykora doubled the advantage shortly after leaving Banbury defence rattled. Ruby Duncan saved a fierce short corner strike before Emma Buxton cooly lifted over an advancing keeper and Ange Thomas made it 4-0 going into the break. Marlow maintained control in the second period by dominating midfield and pressing together, limiting the feed to Banbury's forward line.
