Strollers suffer 1st consecutive defeats in 3 years
Wrinklies 3 – Marlow Strollers 1 (Sat 6 Mar ’10)
For the first time in over three years, Marlow Strollers suffered consecutive defeats when they lost to The Wrinklies on the Farnham Common grass pitch. The home side were into their stride early on, making good use of the slope and soon put Marlow under pressure, deservedly taking the lead. The visitors found it difficult to adjust to the unfamiliar surface and went further behind to a neatly taken goal on the break. The second half was more even and Marlow put pressure on the home side but, despite a triple save by the Marlow ‘keeper, the home side extended their lead. Marlow, now with the advantage of the slope, created several chances but were unable to convert them until Mark Sanford scored a late consolation goal for the Strollers.
