Strollers reach milestone in defeat
Marlow Strollers 3 – Sunbury 6 (Sat 27 Feb 10)
Marlow Strollers were slow off the mark although they were unlucky to have a penalty awarded against them after only 5 minutes. A strong Sunbury side deservedly scored twice more in quick succession and found the net twice more before the break leaving Marlow 5-0 down at half-time. Marlow had been guilty of giving the ball away far too often but tightened up in the second half and played much more incisive hockey. They scored three times and were pushing for two more to force a draw but Sunbury scored a 6th, break-away, goal to finally put the game beyond Marlow.
One landmark was reached when ‘Jono’ Enderby scored Marlow’s first goal – it was the 100th goal they had scored this season. Marlow’s other two goals came from their top scorer – Greg Bagwell.
