Boys U16s on top but draw with Maidenhead 1 - 1
Marlow U16s kept their unbeaten league record but missed out again in a match they should have won. Maidenhead started strongly until Marlow took control only for Maidenhead to breakaway and score. Stephen Williams made a good save but could not stop the follow-up shot. After much pressure Marlow forced their first short corner and scored when Matt French controlled and expertly converted a pre-rehearsed move
1- 1 at half-time and Marlow dominated territory and possession but could not get through the well marshalled Maidenhead defence. At one point their centre back followed our centre forward off the pitch to retrieve the ball. Marlow missed several good chances in the 2nd half and can be encouraged by some execllent hockey in a very competitive and entertaining match. Some very good performances in particular by Matt French, Jack Barber, David Crawford and Gareth Williams
Next game is on Jan 3rd at Guildford. We have been short of players in the last 2 matches so we need everyone to be available
Team: Stephen Williams, Alex Roe, David Crawford, Gareth Williams, Jack Barber (capt), Sam Baker, Matt French, James Robins, Robert Postings, David Lambeth, Tom Packer
